About Us
Heritage dance studio was established in Stockton in September 1989 based in a church hall in Yarm Lane.
We opened with 7 students in the saturday morning class and 2 adults on a Wednesday lunchtime.
With hard work and perseverance the Dance School has grown in size, strength and standard to almost 300 students aged 3 upwards and I believe is the leading Theatre and Dance school in Stockton-on-Tees.
Our present studio was opened in November 1994 and is fully utilised every day of the week. Dance classes are well attended and cover tap, modern, jazz, ballet, freestyle, acro-gymnastics and drama.
Our biggest strength is in the musical theatre but children have attained an extremely high standard in all disciplines and we can boast a 100% success rate in our exam results.
Over the years the school has taken part in many different events including the Newcastle, Darlington and Stockton-on-Tees Riverside Festivals, Record Breakers at Birmingham NEC, variety shows at Sunderland Empire Theatre, numerous performances at the Royal Albert Hall, magic music days at Disneyland Paris in and several appearances at Sadlers Wells theatre London, the latest being in April 2007.
The children also perform their own pantomime at Christmas and these have included Aladdin, Dick Whittington, Cinderella, Mother Goose, Sleeping Beauty, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Our pantomime in January, 2007 "Who Kidnapped Santa", was written for us by Wayne Shellard. Our latest pantomime is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on 25th January, 2009 at Billigham Forum Theatre. A number of other shows from Drama to Variety are also performed at the ARC in Stockton-on-Tees.
The school was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Stage Dance Council International
for being a school of recognised high standards following our exams in
in March, 2007.
